Cleaning Garlicky Hands

Garlic is probably one of the best spices out there in your pantry. Why not? It makes several dishes smell and taste flavorful! Yes, that smell is great in your dish but on your hands? I doubt if you like it as much. Garlic has a very potent smell. Many are obnoxious about chopping garlic because the smell likes to stick around on the hands even hours after, and soap just can’t get the smell off that much. Over the course of time though, I have discovered that cleaning garlicky hands is really not that tough. Here's a list of the best solutions to get rid of the pesky garlic smell on your hands.

All you have to do is rub your hands with something made of stainless steel (such as a spoon, knife, or even the edge of your sink) under cold water, as if it were soap. Many swear by this trick. It actually works both with garlic and onion smells because they can be neutralized with stainless steel. When you are finished your hands should lose most of that smell then you can wash them with real soap.

Another method is rubbing a few whole coffee beans or ground coffee on your hands. You will not only get that enjoyable coffee aroma but you get to give yourself a little spa treatment and exfoliate too!

Alternatively, a little lemon and salt can also do the trick. Simply rub your hands together with these and that garlicky smell will go away. Mmm...lemony fresh hands! Just be careful though if your hands are dry or you have any sort of preexisting cut — ouch!

Another trick you can try is pouring a small amount of mouthwash or squeezing toothpaste on one palm, then rubbing your hands together. Rinse with water afterwards and get that minty smell on your hands.
