How to Make Your Bedroom Look Cleaner in Seconds

The Maids • Dec 31, 2012

At the end of a long day, there’s nothing better than walking into a clean bedroom and sinking into a bed with clean, cool sheets waiting just for you. On the other hand, coming home to a cluttered room doesn’t only interfere with your relaxation, it can even cause stress.

Regular house cleaning has been proven to reduce stress levels, and that includes your bedroom. When you’re in a hurry, it seems much easier to pull the door closed and forget it exists for a while. Even if time is short, though; you can have a cleaner bedroom.

1. Make the bed. A made bed pulls a bedroom together. Talk about an instant transformation, making the bed in your bedroom does it. If you don’t do anything else before you walk out the door in the morning, do this step. Most maid services make the bed for you, too.

2. Declutter your bedside table and dresser. These are small surfaces and lend themselves well to a 15 second declutter. If you do this every day, it might be even less! Put things away in the baskets or drawers in which they belong and throw trash away—in no time, the surfaces in your room look nicer.

3. Put away your clothes. Whether it’s dirty clothes on the floor or clean clothes folded on top of the dresser, put them where they belong. Piles or stacks of clothes around a bedroom make it look cluttered, and it doesn’t take long to dump the dirty clothes in the hamper or put the clean clothes in a drawer.

4. Clean up your trash. Like making your bed, this is an instant makeover. If you have any trash in your room, throw it away. Trash is an instant indicator that tells someone a room is dirty. Even if it’s only your subconscious that notices it, it will affect your mood, so go ahead and throw it away.

In just a few minutes (and as you make it a daily habit, seconds) a day, you can come home to a cleaner bedroom.
